During the customs clearance and pickup process of imported goods by sea , it is necessary to first make the exchange of BL at the port of destination.
BL exchange is a common operation in international freight.
Do you know its meaning, process, and costs?
What is BL Exchange?

“BL Exchange” refers to the shipper or freight forwarder at the port of delivery sending the electronic version of the bill of lading to the consignee or freight forwarder at the destination port after the goods arrive. In this process, the electronic bill of lading replaces the traditional paper bill of lading delivery method.
The consignee or freight forwarder can then pick up the goods directly with the electronic bill of lading, eliminating the need to wait for the paper bill of lading to be mailed, greatly reducing pickup time and improving efficiency.
Significance of BL Exchange
Efficiency: In today’s global trade environment, time is money. BL exchange allows consignees to pick up goods faster without waiting for mailed paper bills of lading.
Convenience: Electronic bills of lading can be quickly and easily sent via email, making them more convenient than traditional mailing methods.
